Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA), with the support of community partners, held its annual International Community Cultural Day on 25th August, an opportunity to experience the diversity of cultures in Sheffield. It was attended by The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Peter Rippon.
Included were art and craft displays, traditional music, cultural food tasting, storytelling, drama and children's workshops & activities by various ethnic groups from the city including the Ethiopian Oromo Community, Hindu Samaj and Romano Jilo dancers, and the Umubama friendship group from the Congo.
International migration and globalisation has resulted in a rich culturally diverse community throughout the world. Sheffield, the fourth largest city in the UK embraces this. Appreciation of this cultural diversity gained through the mixture of rich heritage and practices as seen today may disappear if not continuously shared.
