Sheffield City Council has left a notice on one of the recycling bins in the St Catherine's school car park, Firshill Crescent, stating their intention of closing the site in December.
The notice says –
Local Recycling Site Removal
Government cuts mean that Sheffield city council is unable to run as many local recycling sites as previously.
Due to very low usage, this site is planned to be removed in December 2014
If you do not want this site to be removed please call 0114 2734567 or email sheffield.enquiries@veolia.com
Once removed, your nearest local recycling site will be Sheffield United Training Academy, Firshill Crescent, S4 7DR
for more information, please contact http://www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield
The St Catherine's site is ideally situated for both the parents of children attending both this school and Firshill primary school next door and the many senior citizens living round about, with flat access adjacent to the road.
The nearest alternative site is an awkward uphill walk or a bus ride to a site not nearly as accessible.
