Black History Month 2013

Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA), in conjunction with other community organisations will be holding a series of events to mark and celebrate Black History Month throughout October 2013.

The theme for this year is Leadership, Responsibility and Moving Forward

Black History Month was launched on Sunday , 6th October 2013 at SADACCA, 48 Wicker, Sheffield, S3 8JB

In attendance were The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Sheffield Councillor Vickie Priestly and other keynote speakers.

Black History Month Aims are to promote and share the knowledge of the contributions of Black people and their achievements, heighten the confidence and awareness among the community.

Programme and activities throughout the Black History Month 2013 will be :-

  • Black History workshops including storyline crafting.

  • Radio Talk shows

  • Film nights

  • Education Day and Exhibition

  • Exhibitions of souvenirs , embroiled and diverse ethnic historical artefacts

  • Crocheting and Crafting workshops

  • Young People Oral History Project Awards and Exhibition
