Horse Head

Remember last winter’s saga of the disappearing horse’s head sculpture? Well it’s reared its head again (groooan). The Friends of Burngreave Cemetery traced it to the City Council’s Olive Grove depot and arranged to bring it back to its original stamping ground.

On September 1st, the carving was resited near to the Scott Road entrance to the cemetery, not far from its first home in Ellesmere Road North.

Lo and behold, on the 8th September, it had disappeared again! After many phone calls, emails and an article in the Star, one of our regular dog walkers spotted it near to the grave of Fatty Foulkes – one Sheffield United’s famous players. As Dave Yates from the Cemetery Friends group says,

“We didn’t know he was a secret Blade!”

Let’s see how long he stays put this time.
