During August, Burngreave TARA started a new youth club at Verdon Recreation Centre every Wednesday and Thursday.
Each session includes a range of activities for 8-16 year olds such as arts and crafts, badminton, football, table tennis and more. The centre is a safe space for all children to come and relax and have fun.
Aislinn Adams is running the club, alongside volunteer Josie Stocks. Aislinn said,
“It’s a club where young people can be creative. Last week we did canvas painting, we’ve done some gardening and even painted gnomes. It’s something positive for young people to do and we need to keep that going here on Verdon Street.”
The club is also being supported by Ellesmere Youth Project on a Wednesday who are helping out with the sports and activities. All the staff and volunteers have CRB checks.
Verdon Street Youth Club, Wednesday and Thursday, 4.30-6pm, 8-16 years, free. Under 8s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
