Eden Fir Vale, a Christian project that works with children and young people, has recently expanded its voluntary workforce to 10 members. They have all committed to live and work in Page Hall and Wensley.

The project, begun 2 years ago by Ben and Beth Baker, is supported by St. Thomas Church, Crookes. Ben, the only paid member of the project, spends some of the week helping pupils at Fir Vale Secondary School.

Eden has set up an after-school drop-in at Wensley Community Centre and welcomes 15-20 children every Wednesday 3-5pm. Activities are based on building relationships and having fun in groups, which Ben says has helped to support children from different backgrounds to play together. This has been carried through into regular informal football sessions on the playing fields near Wensley.

Alongside youth work on Wensley and Page Hall's streets, Eden has set up a ‘Girls Group’ called Flourish, which provides a safe and supportive venue for a small group of teenage girls.

Eden Fir Vale will be starting a new football team at Fir Vale School on Friday evenings, for this and any other information on Eden’s activities email Ben: firvale@eden-network.org
