St Peter’s, which is a joint Anglican/Methodist Partnership Church, held a celebration on Sunday 8th September, to mark the official recognition of Rev. Philip Ireson as Priest in Charge who will work in partnership with Rev Mark Goodhand, the Methodist minister.

This cements the links already existing between St Peter’s and Christ Church Pitsmoor, where Philip is vicar. Members of both churches were joined at the service by representatives from other local Christian churches and fellowships, together with a wide range of people from the local community.

Rev Mark Goodhand, welcomed everyone and took part in the service alongside the Bishop of Sheffield, Steven Croft, who spoke about the value of endurance in difficult times.

Following the service everyone enjoyed the opportunity to chat with old and new friends while sharing refreshments and a special celebration cake. In Philip’s words:

“It was a lovely evening of hope and joy with a real sense of anticipation for growing partnerships between the two churches over the coming years.”
