Two-day course for health & early years practitioners

Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th November 2013

Venue: Burngreave Vestry Hall

  • Develop the Knowledge, Skills and Confidence to tackle weight issues.

  • Promote physical and emotional well being in the years before school and beyond.

  • Of interest in particular to those staff who work with families with really young children and have the opportunity to support the families with issues around healthy eating/obesity on a one to one or small group basis.

  • Courses are practical, reflective, fun – and effective.

Research has shown that brief HENRY training resulted in increased practitioner confidence to tackle complex and sensitive lifestyle issues

  • long-term changes to practice, with practitioners continuing

to use the knowledge and skills gained many years after they completed their HENRY training

  • improved child and family outcomes

HENRY is a unique and highly successful intervention to tackle child obesity.

HENRY works because of its holistic approach. It is the only evidence-based intervention that empowers families of 0-5 year olds to lead a healthy lifestyle by bringing together

  • information about food and activity

  • parenting skills – giving parents the confidence and tools to set the kind of limits that

  • support a healthy lifestyle within a loving, responsive relationship

  • behaviour change strategies – drawing on the Family Partnership Model and strengths based

  • solution-focused support
