A man has been seriously assaulted and killed on Andover Street, the police have confirmed.

The attack took place on the corner of Andover Street and Montfort Drive at around 7pm on Monday 17th June 2013. Police cordoned the area off while they investigated.

Eye witnesses said the attack followed an argument between three men of Kurdish origin. Children and young people attending studies at the nearby mosque are said to have witnessed the attack, whilst teachers called the police.

Armed police attended the scene and arrested a man, aged 38, in the Montfort Drive flats at around 8.20pm. The victim, aged 33, was taken to hospital where police confirm he has died.

Police are asking any witnesses to call 101 with information, quoting incident number 1083 of 17 June.
