Only 3% of women know the symptoms.

When to see your doctor

If you are over 50 and you have any of the following symptoms most days for 3 weeks or more.

• Unexplained bloating

• Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite

• Pelvic or stomach pain

• Needing to pee urgently or more frequently than normal

Seeing your doctor early could save your life

Why don’t women go to the doctor?

• They don’t realise their symptoms are serious

• They worry about wasting the doctor’s time

• They may feel embarrassed

Facts of Ovarian Cancer

• 80% of cases occur in women over 50

• 5th most common cancer in women

• Symptoms are similar to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) therefore GPs don’t always pick it up

• 50% of women confuse Ovarian cancer with Cervical cancer and think screening detects both.

• 39% of cases present as emergency
