Firth Park library is a modern, friendly place offering activities and services for the public and businesses to use. It is a very busy library, with multi-cultural users from small babies to the over 65’s.
It is an important service to the area, as many elderly people who are isolated meet there and have a chat with similar people, making a difference to their lives.
As well as books, CDs and DVDs are available to all users for small fees. The latest novels can be reserved. The computers are an essential service, proving very popular with all ages. The staff always give an excellent service, never without a smile, creating a friendly atmosphere and getting to know the people who use the library facilities.
Regular user, Frances Bedford, said it is a nice library with friendly and helpful staff. She added
“The library is accessible for my wheelchair. There is a good selection of books to read. I would like to use the computers but it is busy at most times.”
Here are some activities the library offers:
Coffee morning/bring and buy: Every Friday morning, 10-12 am, raising money for charities
Baby Time for the under 3s: with action rhymes, songs and play. First Monday of the month, 10-11am
Credit Union: New to the area, held every Wednesday, 10-11am
Computer classes for beginners: held every Friday, 1-3pm
Chatterbooks: for ages 7 plus. First Tuesday of the month, 3.45-5pm
Holiday activities for children: Reading Challenge in the summer
Visiting museum staff doing children’s activities and Off the Shelf: authors’ visits
2 rooms for hire: costs£5 per hour

For children who do homework on library computers: 5 copies of black and white photocopying.
