Job: Urdu / Punjabi Advocacy and Development Sessional Worker

The Advocacy project at Roshni helps South Asian women, from Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi backgrounds, to increase access to their rights and services, as well as providing emotional support.

We are looking to recruit a sessional worker, to work 18 hours a week term time only to commence from September 2013- July 2014

Salary : £10.91 per hour ( equivalent to £21,000 per annum; pro rata)

Your work will involve providing one to one advocacy support, completing individual assessments with vulnerable women to identify their needs; To identify steps with the women which they can take to improve the quality of their lives including joining appropriate training programmes and health activities; provide ongoing follow up support to motivate and encourage the women; and to support in providing monthly group sessions around various topics to enhance live skills including confidence building, time management etc.

You must have experience, paid or voluntary, in advice work, advocacy or similar role, good verbal and written communication skills, and be self-motivated with strong initiative. In addition you should be able to speak Urdu/Punjabi.
