The Sheffield raft race is back, coming to our waters on the 31st of August 2013. The race will start at Rutland Road and finish at Nursery Street pocket park.

From 11:00am to 12:15pm On: Saturday, Aug 31st 2013 Kelham Island & the Pocket park Nursery street
This is a fun to take part event and fun to watch. Competitors can make their own rafts and pay the entrance fee or hire the raft and safety equipment to take part.
The raft event starts at just above Ball Bridge at 11.00 am and finishes at the pocket park on Nursery Street sometime after. They can take as long as they want to come down. It is a race but not for first place that would be too easy.
There will be a prize giving ceremony for:
1st Prize . For Third over the line and are singing a song. If you cross the line third and don’t sing, the next team to cross has a chance.
2nd Prize Best decorated intact raft
3rd prize Driest and most flour covered crew
A fight for third place insures a battle to fight the flow of the river. This is all a good sport for the spectator.
There will be Local stalls in the park. Food and refreshments will also be available.
You are welcome to join the party in the park for the afternoon.
