Eid al-Adha is being celebrated at a party on 26th October in Abbeyfield Park from 12-6pm. All members of the community are invited to attend.
Eid al-Adha is celebrated annually on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah and starts after the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The celebrations start approximately 2 months and 10 days after the end of Ramadan and continue until sunset of the 13th day.
The party will include: entertainment, market stalls, a rodeo bull, bouncy castle and slide, exhibitions and displays, as well as a delicious variety of food. Visitors of all ages are welcome to take part in the celebrations.
Many young people in the community have been working on this project and have put a lot of time and effort into making this party happen. This should change any negative perception of young people being a problem to them becoming part of the solution.
