On Wednesday 15th November, Sheffield Council confirmed their plans to build a new primary school on Skinnerthorpe Road in order to cope with an increase in the school age population.
The proposed primary school will be a ‘2 form entry’ school, which generally means 2 classes of 30 children per year, and about 420 pupils in total.
The Council have announced that the new school will be run as an Academy, in line with current Government rules. However, further details are not yet available, as the Council has to find an Academy trust to run the school before the size of the project can be decided.
The Council has confirmed that consultation with residents will be carried out in December 2012 until January next year.
The building is expected to open September 2014 and will be located on the land previously occupied by housing on Skinnerthorpe Road.
