Volunteer as a Community Health Champion

With Roshni Sheffield Asian Women's Resource Centre

Volunteer as a Community Health Champion. They're passionate about improving the health of people in Sheffield!

Community Health Champions are volunteers whose role is to support people to eat healthily, be physically active and improve their mental well-being, and so help to improve the health of people in Sheffield’s least healthy communities. The project is supported by several voluntary and community organisations, Sheffield City Council and the local NHS.

Each Champion is hosted by a local organisation and will get training, support, and valuable work experience. Roshni is seeking to recruit a female Community Health Champion who is bi-lingual in Urdu/Punjabi.

They are looking for people who are enthusiastic and willing to learn, and able to commit to volunteering for 16 hours a month for at least 6 months, as well as doing some training.

You don’t have to know a lot about health, but you will need to be good at listening to people and interested in helping them to solve their problems.

You can help people to live healthier lives by providing activities, information and support, and help make your community a healthier place by finding out about local health needs. This volunteer opportunity provides you with useful skills, knowledge and experience, and training is also provided.
