On Tuesday the 27th and Wednesday the 28th of March 2012, the Byron Wood Year 3 and Year 4 performed an outstanding production of ‘The Peace Child’.
The story was about two opposing tribes, with different lifestyles and traditions, the ‘Sotongis’ and the ‘Wannakeekees’. It was set in the land of Mambica. The two tribes were separated by an enormous river.
One day a western TV crew came and decided to build a bridge over the river when they realised that another tribe was on the other side. They wanted to film them together. Not only were the Wannakeekees and Sotongis furious but they were at war. Only a gift, most precious to mankind, would bring peace between them and their land. So when the Wannakeekees’ Chief’s child was born, they gave it to the Sotongis as a gift of peace. At the end, both tribes came together as one.
