The Messenger has reached its 100th issue.
This is a big achievement for any community newspaper. The Messenger has been very lucky with financial support from New Deal in the early days but even more fortunate in the people who have contributed to it.
Hundreds of local residents have contributed their time to the Messenger in the last 100 editions. On average 30 people contribute or volunteer each issue and around 100 different people each year, as well as the people interviewed and local advertisers. Reaching 100 is something we can all be really proud of.
To celebrate, Burngreave Local History group have looked back at newspapers 100 years ago, and their local coverage. George and Brian also celebrate.
