The annual interfaith walk on Sunday the 22nd April came again into Burngreave to celebrate the unity of different faiths in the area.
It began at Al Rahman mosque with the introduction and support of Abdool Gooljar, the president of the Islamic society of Britain (South Yorkshire). He spoke out about the mosque and thanked the crowd standing there as a mark of harmony they shared with each other. They then headed off to other places of worship up the hill along Burngreave Road.
Rev John Vincent talked about some of the churches, and other faiths, which were not in view as we were walking along. We prayed silently to send peace and unity to be with them around the Burngreave area and across the worldwide faiths.
About 20 people took part in the walk before stopping to treat our stomachs with some hot, vegetarian samosas and drinks, which were served by some of the Islamic community members, organised by Abdool Gooljar.
It ended at St Cuthbert’s church, where everyone congratulated each other with a hand shake for making it happen.
