Everyday Economics - WEA Event

With Rose Ardron

The air is full of talk about economic crisis and the markets. Do we really know what they’re talking about? ‘We’re all in this together’, but how can we make sense of it if we don’t understand the language?

This session will offer a common sense approach to understanding economics. We will start from the grassroots – what we already know about economics from our everyday lives. We will use this knowledge to build a basic tool kit so we can start to ask questions about the global economic system.

“The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.” Joan Robinson, British economist, 1960.

Saturday 18 February 2012, 10:00 – 12:30pm at the Burngreave Ashram, 84–86 Spital Hill, Sheffield S4 7LG
