Winter Events at Parkwood Springs

Forest Garden workday

Saturday 8th December 11am – 2pm

Everybody is welcome at the Multifaith Forest Garden team workday. The workday will include mulching fruit trees and bushes, fruit tree husbandry and general maintenance. The garden is really starting to look great despite the approach of winter and there will be another chance for a guided walk around the garden for those who haven’t visited before.

Tim Shortland, the Community Forestry manager, will be at the entrance of the car park on Cooks Wood Road/Shirecliffe Road from 10.45am.

Please feel free to contact him for more information, on 0114 273 4190.

Friends Group meeting

Wednesday 16th January 7pm-9pm

We will have our usual informal and friendly meeting at St Catherine's School Firshill Crescent, S4 7BX.

We'll be hearing about the Council's updating of their plans for the whole of the Parkwood Springs site after the landfill is closed, and have the chance to make our input to them. Do come along – everybody is welcome!

Litter-pick

Saturday 26th January 10-12 noon

We'll be having the first of our series of litterpicks to spruce up the site while the vegetation is low. Meet at the Spirit of Parkwood sculpture, at the carpark at Cooks Wood Road/Shirecliffe Road at 10. Come in old clothes, but tools and bags will be supplied. It will be a nice friendly time, and we will really make a difference!
