Tuesday 24th April 2012, 9.30am – 3.00pm

Speakers

  • Nita Devabhai – AFIYA Trust – “Creating Self Resilience”

  • Dalveer Kaur – Carers UK – “Half a Million voices”

This conference is an opportunity for professionals from mainstream and voluntary organisations to gain an insight into the cultural needs of carers in the BME communities.

There will be focussed workshops in the afternoon which will look at why there is a high percentage of hidden carers and will explore the many reasons why carers are not accessing support in their caring roles.

At the conference there will be representation from some of the BME communities in Sheffield such as the Pakistani, Bengali, Chinese, Caribbean and Somali communities.
