Interfaith Tree Planting

World Tree

at Ellesmere Park – Ellesmere Road/Ellesmere Walk.

A joint environmental initiative with Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Christian Science, Hindu, Humamist, Islam, Judaism, Pagan, Quaker, Sikh, Spiritualist et al.

You are invited to join the Community Foresters to plant three heavy standard trees on:

Saturday 12th November 11.00am to 2.30pm

We will be planting three heavy standard trees to increase the low tree cover in Burngreave and to replace a number of trees removed from the park in recent years. They will also form a well balanced group of trees and a focus on an unused area at the top entrance to the site.

The trees we will be planting are an oak and two silver birches. Both have very strong folk law; the oak being known as a symbol of strength and the silver birch as ‘the lady of the wood’.

A second planting will take place in the park on the 10th December, details of this will be circulated in the next couple of weeks.
