Southey & Owlerton Area Regeneration (SOAR) is a regeneration charity in North Sheffield which provides a number of services for the community including health services, physical improvements to the area, training and support into employment.
SOAR in partnership with the NHS has an exciting opportunity in our Health Team to work with community projects and workers within the Burngreave, Abbeyfield, Fir Vale, Firshill and Woodside Healthy Communities Programme (HCP).
Health Development Worker
Burngreave, Abbeyfield, Fir Vale, Firshill and Woodside HCP
Part time (18.5 hours) flexible hours
Grade: Scale 5 Spinal Point 22-25 (£19,370 – £21,244 pro rata) 8% pension contribution
Temporary contract until March 2012
26 days annual leave entitlement pro-rata & Bank holidays
As part of the Health Team the Health Development Worker will work with community projects and workers to;
Enhance the Health and Well being of local people by adopting an asset based community development approach* to:
Deliver a programme of health and lifestyle initiatives within community
settings.
Support local people to access existing services and health initiatives.
Identify barriers to local people accessing service & gaps in services.
Work to positively address these barriers and forge links with other service providers to provide greater connectivity in delivery.
*The asset approach values the capacity, skills, knowledge, connections and potential in a community. In an asset approach, the glass is half-full rather than half-empty.
