Actually I’m not a Scout yet, I’m only 10, but Cubs is just as exciting! We meet once a week at the Scout Hut, where we do a mixture of different games and activities. I’ve been going for 2 years and will be moving up to Scouts soon.
We do things like knot tying, model making, scientific experiments and first aid as well as playing games like Chinese Wall, French cricket and Blockades and work for our badges for Cooking, ICT, Cycling, Swimming and lots more.
Though the Scouts was traditionally a Christian society it is open to all children, girls as well as boys. Scouts is a national organisation and you can go on all sorts of adventures like, cycling, sleep-overs and camping weekends.
Our group has been going since 1st April 1943, and one of our Scout leaders went there as a Cub in the 1950’s!
Cubs are on Mondays and Scouts on Fridays both at 7 – 8.30pm. If you w ant to know more, call Group Leader Alan Wiffin on 0114 246 3728, come up on a Monday or Friday and have a go or look at the website http://scouts.org.uk/
