Environment Day

Filling the hanging baskets
Filling the hanging baskets

Story: Fran Belbin

The Environment Day stalls were nearly blown away by the blustery winds but it didn’t spoil the event organised by the Friends of Abbeyfield Park.

People queued to buy or replenish their hanging baskets, as well as visiting the plant stalls, 2nd hand clothes, book swaps, a bicycle workshop, willow weaving, hand made cards, and the Tool Bank and Transition town information stalls. There was a steady stream of visitors through the afternoon.

Unfortunately the wind blew the roofs from the stalls, forced us to tie everything down and sent the food stall inside, but it didn’t stop patties, falafel and other delicacies being scoffed by hungry customers. Roll on the next one!
