After a two-year gap, the ‘Well Dressing’ returned to the cemetery on Sunday 17th July.
Volunteers spent several days preparing the stand and covering it with clay before applying flower petals and other materials to create the design.
This year’s theme pictured some of the birds on the endangered species or conservation lists that inhabit the cemetery. We need to ensure that the cemetery continues to provide the necessary habitat for their survival.
A guided walk and talk about the cemetery, led by Ken, attracted around 30 people despite an iffy weather forecast.
Thanks to all those who brought in flowers, provided displays and helped during the 3 days.
Look out for future events in the cemetery – Fungi walk on Monday 12th September and popular Apple Day on Sunday 16th October.
The Friends of Burngreave Chapels and Cemetery are available every Sunday from 11am-3pm to help with the search for family graves.
