On the 1st March, Byron Wood School took part in a Guinness World Record attempt to have the biggest game of heads, shoulders, knees and toes, ever!
Byron Wood was one of many schools taking part in this Chatterbox Challenge event for charity ICAN, who raise money to support children with communication problems. It’s songs like heads, shoulders, knees, and toes that teach children the relation of words to actions and meaning.
To make sure the record was met, the young children had to be on the playground ready to start at exactly 11am, and they had to keep going for 5 minutes. Three adjudicators were at the event to witness and confirm the record attempt went to plan . The current record was set by Butcombe Pre-Preparatory School in Bristol in October 2007 with 448 pupils participating. Kate Freeman, who is a senior member of the charity ICAN, said that on the day around 100,000 people took part in the event.
Whether the record has been broken or not is yet to be heard, but the figures look promising
