St Catherine’s school and the local Firshill community celebrated St Patrick’s Day and Comic Relief Day on 17th March. Everyone was asked to dress up in green and red.

The Agewell Craft Group met in the morning for a demonstration of flower arranging and made some beautiful displays before staying on for lunch in the Community Café prepared by Team AJ (Alison and Joanne, volunteers from the Parent Forum). Adult Learners from the Sheffield College English and Maths courses also came to the lunch, which is provided every Thursday during term time and is open to everyone.

School Council And Fairtrade

The School Council and the Sultana Gang had a Fairtrade Stall selling chocolate, sultanas and snacks and some of the Year 6 children were selling cupcakes or washing cars outside as part of their Tenner Tycoon project, a national competition to promote enterprise in schools. We also had a visit from our neighbours at Firs Hill School who brought in red noses to sell to adults and children.

The Agewell Craft Group meets every Thursday morning in the Crescent Community Centre, they get involved in a wide range of craft activities including card making, glass painting and rug making. If you are interested in joining the group, please get in touch with Mrs Marjorie Thorpe c/o the Crescent Community Centre.

The Crescent Community Centre Management Group will be holding its first Annual General Meeting on Monday 11th July at 6pm, members of the community are very welcome to attend.

For more information about activities in the Crescent Community Centre, or to find out about booking the hall for an event, please phone 0114 218 9730, or call into the school office
