In January this year, the children began thinking about what act they could perform in the first ever Byron Wood’s Got Talent!

Each class held auditions and decided which acts would go forward to the semi finals. There were two semi-finals – the acts performed while the rest of the school decided who deserved to remain in the show. Children could be seen practicing their singing and dancing in the playground for weeks.

The long awaited final was held on 15th February; the stage was constructed, the lights checked, the music at the ready. The judges, Mr Carter, Mrs Ashton, Mrs Davies and Mr Surridge, told the audience that they were looking for an act that showed originality and creativity.

The audience was buzzing with excitement, the parents had their cameras, this was no less exciting than the X Factor. The judges awarded each act points but waited until the end for the results. The audience waited with baited breath for the winner to be announced…in first place was Bilal Yousef who wowed everyone with his skipping skills; in 2nd place was Asmahan Awadh, who performed an Arabic dance and third place was given to Irfaan Parwez who it seems is a natural at performing circus tricks.

If you look up the word ‘Talent’ in the dictionary it says; a person or persons with exceptional ability, that definitely describes Byron Wood children, they were outstanding!
