HIV Home Sampling Scheme: Free & Confidential
Did you know that a third of people with HIV are unaware that they have the infection? Treatments for HIV have greatly improved in recent years, and the earlier you test the more likely you are to remain healthy and less likely to transmit the HIV infection to others.
Up to December 2010, a HIV home sampling scheme will be available for people from Black African communities in Sheffield. This scheme aims to increase the options available on how and where to take an HIV test. People from Black African communities in Sheffield can order a free saliva home sampling kit which will be posted out to you in a plain envelope. You will then be asked to return your saliva sample in a free-post envelope, and the clinic will contact you with your results. This service is free and confidential.
For more information, or to order a free HIV sampling kit go to http://www.africaninsheffield.co.uk or phone 0114 226 1900 to speak to someone in confidence.
This programme has been supported with an educational grant via the Gilead UK and Ireland Fellowship Programme.
