Community Assembly Meeting in July

Over 50 members of the community attended the last Community Assembly public business meeting at Shiregreen Community Centre in July.

Alison Rayner, the Community Assembly Manager reported that funds were available over the summer – £40,000 for community group projects that help to reduce the impact of climate change and £20,000 for activities for young people aged 8-13years.

The Community Involvement Plan was also discussed and generated a lively discussion. Councillors then went on to agree how the remaining discretionary budget is to be spent: £3000 was allocated for match funding for insurance costs to enable users at the Old Library to continue to use equipment after CNF have ceased trading £19,500 was allocated for a team of trainees to blitz environmental problems in Burngreave starting with the Carwood estate Up to £20,000 was allocated to contribute to the completion of the Burngreave Recreation Ground refurbishment. Full details of all the decisions at the meeting will be available on the website in October.
