Main purpose Of job: Teach community-based study support groups (largely BME young people in Burngreave area)
Hours: After school or weekends in 2 or 3 hour sessions
Salary: £18.50 per hour

Burngreave Study Support Consortium has vacancies for SCIENCE tutors to tutor groups of young people, primarily from ethnic minorities in Burngreave.
After-school/weekend study support is an exciting opportunity to help young people reach their full potential in a relaxed but focussed learning environment that enables pupils to take control of their learning. The work will be in 2 or 3 hour sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings and at weekends on Saturday and Sunday, during term times.

Applicants should be qualified teachers and have an up to date Criminal Records Bureau check and Child Protection training, though this may be available through the project.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Lesson planning and liaison with schools to deliver lessons to National Curriculum standards.
To undertake regular assessments on pupils progress and implement individual plans for each pupil
To monitor attendance and behaviour and implement policy’s and procedures in place.
To provide all material required to support assistants.
Deliver lessons and give support to students.
To liaise with parents involving them in their child’s educational development.
To submit registers, lesson plans, timesheets, and copies of materials used to the project manager on a monthly basis.
Participate in activities arranged for the students as part of the programmes.
To be willing to take on any other duties related to the job
Person Specification:
Qualified teacher status appropriate to the age group
Experience of working in a mainstream school
Experience of working with pupils who have behaviour problems or difficulties in attending school.
Able to plan and organise work to targets and deadlines and to take positive responsibility for own work and actions.
Able to work informally and flexibly with young people
Work as an effective team member
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Manage time efficiently and effectively and willing to work flexible hours.
Understanding of the needs of the client groups.
To be able to use ICT.
Positive commitment to equal opportunities.
Must have a CRB form.
