The World Cup is in June and South Yorkshire Police are aiming to promote Spital Hill as a safe to place to enjoy the matches and get something decent to eat.

Proactive work by the police has led to meetings with traders about the best way to advertise Spital Hill as a good place for people from all over the world to view the matches.

The police presence will be on Spital Hill for:

Inspector Simon Leake said,

“My view is that Spital Hill is a great place to be and I’d like to encourage people to come to Spital Hill and enjoy the food and football provided by local businesses. We also want people to feel safe knowing that the local people team will be there to support local businesses.”

Yassin runs the Malii.com café and regularly has a full house with the sport on. He says,

“I’ve TV for anybody and not just the Somali community.”

Kevin Greaves of the Royal Oak has a big screen ready to go – plus 3 small TVs, so no-one will miss out. For him, the event is going to be a big one and he is well prepared
