All three teams of local Pitsmoor / Burngreave football club Earl Marshall Juniors had cause to celebrate at the end of the 2009- 10 season.

The Under-8’s team had a terrific season. Their squad, strengthened with some fantastic new players, delivered some great performances. Their enthusiastic enjoyment of the game was a joy to watch. In September 2010, they move up to Under-9’s and will be in a competitive league for the first time. No doubt they will be a force to be reckoned with!

In a hectic schedule of matches in April 2010, the Under-9’s won their last eight games convincingly to secure a club record ‘winning sequence’ and a comfortable third place finish. Next season Damian De Souza and his coaching team can look forward to Division B football knowing that their squad of excellent young footballers will be serious contenders for promotion to the top flight.

The Under-14’s team secured promotion to Division B at the end of last season. However, they couldn’t keep up the impressive wins in pre-season friendlies once the league competition got underway. However, relegation was avoided after Killamarsh Dynamos resigned from the league. With Division B status secured, manager Garfield Walters can plan for next season.

More good news for Earl Marshall is that the Club will expand to five teams next season. Players are already training with the aim of forming an Under-7’s team in September 2010. Moves are also afoot to incorporate Sheffield Saints – formerly Burngreave Saints – who will play Under- 14’s Division A football next season.

All the teams will be holding trials for new players in early June 2010. If you would like more information on Earl Marshall Juniors – a football club that is proud to reflect the diversity of our local community – then please contact Mick Ashman on 07843 731 430.
