Crabtree’s Crafty Creatures

On Friday 4th June, the creatures of Crabtree Ponds Nature Reserve were joined by many different families and youth groups during the half term holiday, in an event run by the Sheffield Wildlife Trust.

“Crabtree’s Crafty Creatures” invited children to dip their nets and buckets into the pond on this urban nature reserve, and examine what they found.

Swarms of tadpoles, handfuls of pond snails, and even newts and fish were discovered and inspected.

There was also the opportunity to re-create these and other animals in clay – or with re-cycled plastic bottles and pipe cleaners for the more inventive!
