At NOMAD’s AGM 0n 3rd November 2010, participants from the Moving Forward course were awarded with NOCN certificates by Councillor Hussain.

Moving Forward is an accredited training course which prepares participants for a volunteering experience which helps develop existing or new skills and talents, and for many has been a crucial step in moving forward in their lives, and for several learners a direct step into paid work.

Mark Butler, having completed the programme volunteered initially with Nomad and is now a Volunteer Trainee Project Worker with Kickstart, said of the programme – “I’ve grown in confidence – it made me want to work again”.

Di Blythe-Browne spoke to the meeting when she received her certificate – “Thankyou to NOMAD – it was just what I needed to get me going again, and to the other people on the course – it was an all round thing”.

Also present at the AGM was Andy who said: “I did the Moving Forward course and am now a volunteer supporting new learners. This project has a major positive impact on the lives of people who take part. Being part of that process has been a real privilege and I have recently been invited onto the Management Committee where I will be able to represent service users.”
