Sheffield Council approved the proposal to take over New Deal’s buildings, at its Cabinet meeting on 22nd December.

At a public meeting on 8th December Sheffield City Council announced plans to take ownership of all buildings owned by Burngreave New Deal for Communities – the Vestry Hall, Sorby House and Forum House.

Burngreave Library is planning an event to promote the library service amongst regular users and to target non users, for example new arrival families and asylum seekers.

Sheffield Ashram in Burngreave has become home to a new group – Community Reflections – keen to learn more about the similarities shared by different world faiths through exploring spiritual writings and contemplative thought.

St Catherine’s Primary School pupils won the under 11s Best Business category in this year’s national ‘Make Your Mark With a Tenner’ competition. Enterprise UK gave thousands of potential entrepeneurs £10 to start up their mini businesses.

The ‘Break the Silence’ event – to commemorate World AIDS Day with African Communities- at Burngreave Vestry Hall has been cancelled due to snow .

The Time 2 Test Home Sampling Scheme, which runs until the 17th December, allows members of the community to pick up a home sampling kit from various community settings, via a website or by telephone and have one posted to their home.

There are many myths around HIV and Aids. The health services in Sheffield would like to dispel these myths that can discourage people from finding out their HIV status.

Many Burngreave shops and businesses kept their doors open on Wednesday 1st December, despite heavy snow, more than 12 inches in places, over night.
