Break the Silence

Vestry Hall event cancelled due to snow

The African Peer Education Project's ‘Break the Silence’ event, due to be held on Friday 3rd December, has been cancelled due to the snow. The cultural event was to commemorate World AIDS Day with African Communities.

However, the HIV home sampling scheme, which was to be promoted at the event, is still going ahead until 17th December.

It is hoped the event will be re-scheduled in the future.

For more information about the project, see http://www.africaninsheffield.co.uk or contact them at admin@chiv.nhs.uk or on 0114 226 1900.

HIV Home-testing service

The Time 2 Test Home Sampling Scheme, which runs until the 17th December, allows members of the community to pick up a home sampling kit from various community settings, via a website or by telephone and have one posted to their home.

Mugwagwa's story

(Mugwagwa’s name has been changed to protect his identity)

Mugwagwa believes that everyone should be aware of their HIV status and that it really is ‘better to know’.

HIV Myth buster

There are many myths around HIV and Aids. The health services in Sheffield would like to dispel these myths that can discourage people from finding out their HIV status.
