Story: Lisa Swift

Children and parents gathered at Pye Bank School on 16th July for a fantastic summer fayre.

Parents, teachers, and school staff put on a whole range of activities for everyone to enjoy. Delicious food included cakes, samosas, rice and chicken curry. There was even an outdoor barbeque despite the rainy weather.

The School’s behaviour support worker took wet sponges on the chin, as children paid to take their best shot, raising an amazing £44 in just 2 hours.

Mr Twining, Year 5 teacher said,

“It's been a real community event. We've had lots of ex pupils come to visit and children from other schools, which is great to see.”

Zabeda Hussain, Community Learning Worker, worked to get the whole community involved,

“We've had loads of stalls and games, with bric-a-brac and raffles as well as henna and face painting.”

Deputy Headteacher, Samina Qureshi, said,

"It's been a lovely day, the children have loved it, and all the staff have worked really hard.”

Headteacher Paul Hopkinson said,

"It's been a great year. For the first time we've achieved what they call the national ‘floor target’ in all subject areas, which is just brilliant.”
