Positive parenting

The latest parents to pass the Positive Parenting course received their certificates at a ceremony at Owler Brook Children's Centre on 5th July.
Having learnt about child development, behaviour, safety and bringing out the best in their children, the parents were encouraged to use their skills in voluntary or paid work. One parent, Zoe Bolderson, now volunteers for Action for Children.
Rashida Shahzad said she had "learned a lot about creating a safe environment and keeping healthy." Amran Suleiman, a SureStart translator, took the course to improve her own parenting skills and also to communicate better with mums from overseas.
The next OCN-accredited courses will run for 9 weeks from September at Owler Brook Children's Centre on Thursdays or on Fridays at Burngreave Children's Centre. For more information, contact Burngreave Children's Centre on 0114 252 5220.
