Firvale Fun Day took place in Osgathorpe Park on the 4th July on a day when the sun was sparkling in the park.

Osgathorpe Park was filled with music, dance, food and local stalls.

Lord Mayor Alan Law opened the festival, he welcomed and thanked all the supporters and participants for making the event happen. He then headed up the hill to open the new shelter near the children’s playground.

Mr Adam McNally played the opening music with songs from reggae icon Bob Marley, before the Owler Brook children’s choir took to the stage with bright songs they had learnt at school. All their parents were supporting and encouraging them, everyone said it was the best start to a festival they had seen.

Bollywood dancers Desi Twist, made a great performance by switching between different dance styles and music, showing their great talent. Zubaidah then impressed the crowd with their fusion belly dancing.

Probably the most eagerly awaited appearance of the festival, was the Slovakian dancing group, Romano Jilo, who performed flamenco style dances that everyone loved to see.

Burngreave local rappers the Citizens came on stage with courage and pride. Followed by some great performances from the crowd, including local talent JKAS.

Then local Latin American band, Son Para Todos, gave the festival an upbeat finale.

All the families and children had loads of fun and enjoyed the food, local stalls, henna art, circus skills and much more.
