A joint project between the Friends of Parkwood Springs group and the Liveability team has helped to improve the appearance of a local naturalistic site.

Over 2 days, volunteers and council officers with their partners worked together to clear an area of Parkwood Springs to the rear of Penrith Road in Shirecliffe.

The Community Assembly sponsored 2 skips that were filled over the 2 days with approximately 100 black bags full of litter which were removed from the site.

The event was a real success with Neil Schofield, the chairman of the friends-of group saying,

“I think that we really made an impact, and I'm sure that a lot of people will appreciate it enormously. For the Friends of Parkwood Springs it is very good to have things that we are involved in that have made a difference in these first months. I am sure that it will help us get more people active and involved.”

Friends of Parkwood Springs next event is a Family Picnic, 25th July, 2- 5pm at the Cooks Wood Road/ Shirecliffe Road entrance. Bring your own Picnic and blanket!

The next Friends of Parkwood Spring meeting is Tuesday, 21st September at 7pm at St Catherine’s school.
