Story: Emily Haimeed
On Sunday 11th July, the annual Abbeyfield festival took place, attracting thousands of people from all over Sheffield.
The festival was very lively and successful, with something for everyone to do. Many different workshops and activities had been set up and were available to anyone. Chess games and Shiatsu sessions were also held and were very popular!
Members of the local community took to the stage, showcasing weeks of hard work in entertaining performances. There was a fantastic atmosphere as people of all ages got involved in the singing and dancing.
The festival also provided a range of food stalls, with a variety of food from different countries. There was a strong community feel to the Abbeyfield festival and people really enjoyed themselves.
Around 150 people volunteered at the festival, many were from the Rock Christian Centre, who helped in the children’s area and as stewards. Thanks go to everyone who contributed to the festival, this year funded mainly by the Council through the Community Assembly.
To have your say on next year’s festival, contact BCAF on 272 8008, first meeting planned for October.
