Could you understand the issues faced by offenders when they leave custody?
Are you a good listener?
Could you help and support an offender on a community based sentence or in the secure estate?
If you live in South Yorkshire we want to hear from you! Funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) we work with the Ministry of Justice (NOMS) both recruiting and training volunteer mentors to help participants adapt to life after prison, or on community sentences as an alternative to custody.
Government statistics show that almost half of ex-offenders re offend in the first year after leaving custody and most of these within the first 3 months. As a volunteer with the SOVA/NOMS Project you will provide support, guidance and positive encouragement at this crucial time.

We welcome applicants from BME groups where also a criminal record doesn’t necessarily preclude eligibility.
