Springwatch 2009: An unmissable event!

The good folk who braved the showers on June 6th 2009 to join the Parkwood Springwatch weren’t disappointed by a bit of bad weather. The stars of the show were the birds of prey, whose impeccable behaviour gave everyone a close encounter with giants of the bird world.

At the smaller end of the scale, newts and frogs, snakes and lizards slithered over children’s hands, and little fingers made pictures by felting wool. Exciting birds and insects appeared modelled in hay, wool and feathers.

Equipped with binoculars, intrepid explorers set off over the Springs led by Ziggy to look at the wealth of local wildlife, learn how to cook elderflower fritters, scramble in search of lichens and see the fine views.

Parkwood Springwatch 2009 was supported by the BBC and the Sheffield Wildlife Trust
