First taste of candyfloss

Earl Marshal Connexions Centre ran a wide variety of activities in the summer weeks, which were well attended, mainly by local Slovakian young people.

Travelling from Sheffield by coach to Lightwater Valley and Pleasure Island theme parks was the first experience for many of the Slovakian young people, who were amazed they could access all the rides inside the amusement park. For many it was the first time they had tasted candyfloss. As in the Slovakian culture, we found many of the older young people taking responsibility for supporting and supervising the younger ones. The young people had fun and keep asking when they can go again.

There were also creative activities in the Earl Marshal Centre, including tie-dying t-shirts, a new skill for the young people involved.
