Late July saw young people flock to Osgathorpe Park to celebrate to new climbing boulder

The launch was a fantastic success, organised by Sheffield Futures and the Parks and Countryside Service. However, it was the enthusiasm of the Firvale Youth Group and the Earl Marshall Youth Group that really brought the energy into the park

Young people took part in grass sledging with the Rangers, football and cricket activities with Activity Sheffield, and climbing sessions. There was also an art workshop run by artists who are currently employed to design and build a new shelter in the park. Young people's ideas from the workshop will form the basis of the new shelter design.

Friends of Osgathorpe Park (FOOP) working with the Parks and Countryside Service raised funds for the new climbing boulder. Local young people chose the design of the boulder, which has easy routes as well as more challenging climbs, making it suitable for climbers of all abilities.

The boulder is part of ongoing work to improve the park's facilities.
