At the recent BCAF meeting, the creation of the Adventure playground was so long ago now that it fell off the timeline! But as we all know, since it was developed it has been both a treasure and a challenge. A treasure to those who use it, and a challenge to the Council! A relationship that provides plenty of spark and creativity….
The way in which the playground runs has always been different to other more organised, more formal play provision of children. And listening to the voice from the users is part of that tradition at Pitsmoor. The other element is the support that’s been given to the playground by adults and parents who live round and about. The latest group of adults and parents have taken on the mantle of supporting the playground at a particularly difficult time. Encouraging Activity Sheffield; raising funding; thinking through new designs; planning for both the big and the small – always with the needs of the young people who use the Adventure to the fore.
