Amal is from Somalia and lives in Burngreave with her three children.
What kind of voluntary job are you doing?
I am volunteering in the school which my children attend. I am part of the parents group and the volunteering is about fundraising to help the school.
What inspired you to do volunteering?
My children pushed me to do it. I started last year after the school caught fire and the school needed to raise money. I’ve had a very good experience doing this. And it is very helpful in improving my English language and for meeting friends.
What is your future plan?
To continue my volunteering, I would like to work in school as a teaching assistant.
What is your advice to other people?
It is good to volunteer, to help other people, and to get experience which helps you to get a job.
